How We TestReagent Kits

Every recommendation on TestSubstances is backed by hands-on testing. We buy reagent kits at retail price, test them against certified reference standards, and publish the results — including what worked, what didn't, and what surprised us. No sponsored reviews. No cherry-picked data.

Our Testing Methodology

We follow a standardized protocol based on published harm reduction guidelines and reagent manufacturer documentation. Every test is photographed against a white ceramic surface under controlled lighting at room temperature (20-22°C). All reagents are sourced from TestKitPlus at full retail price — we accept no free samples from manufacturers.

Independent Purchasing

We buy every kit at full price through the same checkout flow you'd use. No review units. No manufacturer relationships.

Fresh Batch Dating

We record the batch/lot number and manufacture date for every reagent tested. Results are time-stamped so you know how current they are.

Multi-Reagent Cross-Verification

Every substance is tested with 2-4 reagents where possible. A single reagent result is suggestive; multiple consistent reactions are the standard.

Photographed Results

Every reaction is photographed at 0s, 30s, and 60s on a white ceramic surface. No illustrations — only actual test results.

Test Results Gallery

Direct photographs of reagent reactions against certified reference standards. Each image shows the reagent reaction at 30 seconds on a white ceramic testing surface. We're building this library continuously — check back for new results.

Photo Library Coming Soon

We're currently conducting our next round of controlled testing. Photographed results for Marquis, Ehrlich, Mecke, Froehde, Simon's, Morris, and Liebermann reagents will be published here with batch dates and methodology notes.

Expected publish date: August 2026
